ACF Plugin conflict causes a PHP Fatal Error
Symptom Upon activating MapifyPro, there is a fatal error: The logs display the following error message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function acf_localize_text() in /<path-to-mapifypro-plugin/lib/acf-mapifypro/admin/class-acf-mapifypro-locations-relationship-field.php Explanation This happens when the site is running an older version of the ACF Pro plugin. MapifyPro does not require you the site admin to install ACF Pro, however it will prefer to utilize the standalone version installed by the site admin instead of the built-in version inside of MapifyPro. This is to prevent conflicts that occur when multiple copies of ACF Pro are running on the same page. Since versions of ACF Pro older than 5.7 does not have the acf_localize_text() function, MapifyPro displays an error. Resolution Update your ACF Pro plugin to the latest version.
Address Search Doesn't Appear to Work on Chrome
Symptom The Address Search doesn't work on the map using Google Chrome. Resolution If you’re having problems with the Address Search with MapifyPro and are using Google Chrome, check your console output. If you see a failure from the API call, install the Chrome plugin “HTTPS Everywhere”: HTTPS Everywhere - Chrome Web Store The HTTPS Everywhere Plugin It addresses the API call issue on Chrome browsers and the address search will work again.
After publishing my map, it doesn't display on my site.
Symptom You've created your map and published it, however, it doesn't display on your site or page. Explanation Normally, the map will display after you have clicked "Publish" and placed the Shortcode on your site or page. Some instances were reported, however, in which only a blank map appears on the front-end. Resolution Ensure placing the correct Shortcode on the site or page. Log out of WordPress and log back in. In many cases, this solves the problem and the map will then behave as expected.
Batch Upload (CSV file) - Locations Not Being Added to Your Map
The following fields will need to be updated when adding locations to your Batch Upload (CSV file). 1. Titles (column A) should be unique - otherwise, the same title will update the Map Location instead of adding it. 2. The location field (column Q) should be filled in so that the location can be identified. This can be using an address, a business name, or GPS co-ordinates. It's also recommended to update, Enter URL and the Tooltip Content fields. The Batch Upload still may work, however updating these fields will help when viewing the map. Also, if there are several locations in your batch upload, then we do recommend starting off with a lower number e.g. 10, to ensure the locations are being updated on your map. Once the above updates have been completed then please try the batch upload again.
Bulk Uploader Not Working or Stalling
Symptom The Bulk Uploader is not working. Explanation Since MapifyPro 3.0 and above, our maps work a bit differently from Google Maps. We've had reports of some customers struggling to locate certain addresses on the map when creating locations, or when using the batch uploader. Resolution In many cases, the location will be found using any address. However if you receive the "Geocode error: Cannot locate address" message, try this: -Remove the city and zip code form the address you are entering. For example: -Instead of: 12345 CreekRidge Rd. Dayton, OH. 45150 -Enter: 12345 Creekridge Rd. OH (Note that this isn't a real address and will produce the same error, but shown as an example on how to format your addresses). Use this format for all addresses and you will be good to go while adding locations one at a time or in the bulk uploader.
Cannot Assign/Unassign a Map to a Map Location
Symptom Within a Map Location, when trying to assign/unassign one or more Map, the Map does not get assigned/unassigned. Instead, the page scroll jumps to the top of the page. Explanation This was a problem with an older version of MapifyPro. This could occur if you have the latest version of MapifyPro and your browser has the older code of MapifyPro cached. Resolution 1: Update MapifyPro Please update to the latest version of MapifyPro Resolution 2: Clear your browser cache Cached Images and files need to be cleared on your browser. Use the following links to assist you with clearing your browser cache. The guides below describe how to clear your browsing data. If you don't want to remove all your browsing data then please ensure that Cached Images and files (for Chrome & Edge), Empty Caches (for Safari), or the Cached Web Content (for Firefox) are cleared as a minimum. Explaining Issues Caused by Site Caching (Image Map Not Uploading, Maps Not Displaying, etc.)
Symptoms Maps may not display properly on the admin or front-end. In image mode, you might see an "Image not supported" message, even if your image is correctly formatted. Explanation These issues could be related to site caching. If caching is enabled, it can prevent your site from communicating with external servers, leading to the problems mentioned above. Resolution If you encounter these issues, you should purge all caches or consider disabling and/or deleting your site caching plugins. Since site caching can take various forms, we won't delve into the details here. Instead, we recommend checking out the most comprehensive article we've found on the topic, created by our friends at Elegant Themes: https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/tips-tricks/how-to-clear-your-wordpress-cache-a-step-by-step-guide *Note: If you're not seeing any maps, whether on the front-end or in admin, you may still need to verify your API key. You will see a message at the top of your dashboard if this is the case. Cloudflare: Cloudflare is a third-party service that optimizes your site and creates an ongoing backup in case your site crashes. We are in no way affiliated with Cloudflare, but we use it ourselves on MapifyPro.com. However, Cloudflare implements a layer of caching that can affect your maps just like a caching plugin offered by WP-Rocket, WPEngine, etc. Here's an easy tweak on how you get it to play nice with MapifyPro: MapifyPro Settings 1. Log into your wp-admin and navigate to MapifyPro. 2. Under MapifyPro Settings, enable the MapifyPro JavaScript cache buster:image Caching settings: No Query String 1. Log into your Cloudflare account and navigate to the "Caching" Setting from the top menu. 2. Under "Caching Settings," at the right you'll see 3 options. Select "No Query String". See below. mceclip0.png 3. Please save any settings and Cloudflare will now work perfectly well with MapifyPro. Rocket Loader This could also be due to Rocket Loader if you are using Cloudflare. Please follow these instructions to disable rocket loader only for MapifyPro and WooCommerce (and for anything else that uses jQuery): How To Fix Cloudflare's Rocket Loader Conflict With jQuery | Elegant Themes Help Center (intercom.help) URL matches to exclude: https://mysite.com/mapify https://mysite.com/woocommerce And as always, please purge your Cloudflare cache after doing the above.
Geocode error: I can't plot a specific address
Symptom You get the message, "Geocode error: Cannot locate address," when plotting a specific address. Explanation Since MapifyPro 3.0 and above, our maps work a bit differently from Google Maps. We've had reports of some customers struggling to locate certain addresses on the map when creating locations, or when using the batch uploader. Resolution In many cases, the location will be found using any address. However if you receive the "Geocode error: Cannot locate address" message, try this: 1. Simplify the address you are entering, in addition to spelling out abbreviations and using commas to separate. For example: -Instead of: 345 CreekRidge Rd. Apt# 31, Dayton, OH. 45150 -Enter: 345 Creekridge Road, Dayton, Ohio 45150 2. In some cases, removing the zip code can also fix this issue, in addition to only using commas to separate street, city, and state. Additionally, you may : -345 Creekridge Road, Dayton, Ohio (Note that this isn't a real address and will produce the same error, but shown as an example on how to format your addresses). Use the above format (specifically option 1) for all addresses and you will be good to go while adding locations one at a time or in the bulk uploader.
Gravity Forms is Not Working Properly with MapifyPro
Special thanks to community member "Chanson" for the help in pinning down this issue! We have found that you must enable the following settings to properly integrate Gravity Forms alongside our software: SPECIFICALLY: No-conflict mode should be set to "Off" It has been reported that setting Output CSS and Output HTML5 have no effect whether on or off. Your Settings (found in your Forms > Settings tab) should look like this: image
I see an "Oops Something went Wrong" message on my maps
Note that this is no longer an issue. Please update to MapifyPro version 3.0+ to resolve. You need to create and enter a Google Maps Key code. Here's how: 1. After setting up a Google developer's account, simply grab your key here. 2. In your WP-admin, navigate to the MapifyPro tab, and select "MapifyPro Settings". You'll see the field where you need to paste the code. It's as easy as that. Note however that you MUST update to the latest version of MapifyPro to see this new field. Here's a visual: image
I'm getting insecure content warnings when using specific map styles.
Symptom If you are on a secure site with an SSL certificate installed, you may receive "insecure content" warnings, in addition to certain map styles not displaying properly. Explanation This is due to the image urls used in some map styles using "http:" in the url rather than "https:" which will cause your secure site to mark them as insecure. Note that these pose no actual risk, but simply need to be recognized by your site as being simple image URLs with the proper "https:" in the URL. Resolution To address this, you can use the following plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ssl-insecure-content-fixer/ This will cleanup urls using http and ensure they are properly implemented in your secure site.
Incorrect Location Appearing on Map (Ocean near Africa: GPS Default Location)
How to fix a location that appears over the ocean. The location may have defaulted to the GPS location "0,0", which is off the coast of Africa and this happens when the address is not located correctly on the map. Reason This could be due to any of the following: Location not being entered (completely) Location not found on your Map Location not in your Batch Upload (CSV file) Resolution To fix this, please navigate to MapifyPro > Map Locations >(required location). In the location that you need to edit, scroll down to Map Location. In the "Select a location on the map" field, enter either an address, business name, or GPS coordinates. then click "Search on Map." mceclip0.png Once the map pin displays properly on the map, click 'Update' to save your changes.
Map Displays Intermittently on Some Desktop and Mobile Browsers
Symptoms The Map is displaying on one browser but not on another. For example, the Map is working as expected on Microsoft Edge but appears as a blank screen on Chrome/Safari or vice versa. The Map and its Map Locations are displaying on every desktop browser but not on mobile devices. Explanation It is most likely a caching issue. Site catching, when enabled, can force your site not to communicate with external servers, which can cause some problems within MapifyPro. Resolution To fix this, you’ll want to purge all caches, or possibly even disable or delete your site caching plugins. Site caching comes in many forms, and rather than go into depth on these, we’ll link you to the most complete article we’ve found on the topic, as created by our friends at Elegant Themes: https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/tips-tricks/how-to-clear-your-wordpress-cache-a-step-by-step-guide *Note: If you’re not seeing any maps, whether on the front-end or in admin, you may still need to activate your API. You will see a message at the top of your dashboard if this is the case. Cloudflare is a third-party service that optimizes your site and creates an ongoing backup in case your site crashes. We are in no way affiliated with Cloudflare, but we use it ourselves on MapifyPro.com. However, Cloudflare implements a layer of caching that can affect your maps just like a caching plugin offered by WP-Rocket, WPEngine, etc. Here’s an easy tweak on how you get it to play nice with MapifyPro: Caching settings: No Query String 1. Log into your Cloudflare account and navigate to the “Caching” Setting from the top menu. 2. Under “Caching Settings” at the right you’ll see 3 options. Select “No Query String”. See below. image 3. Save any settings and that's it! Cloudflare will now work perfectly well with MapifyPro. Site caching is here to stay, but using the above tips will help ensure these services play well with all of our plugins and others! Rocket Loader This could also be due to Rocket Loader if you are using CloudFlare. Map Images Appear Flattened in Twenty Twenty-One Theme
Symptom When hovering over a tooltip on a map, the tooltip image appears flattened as in the below screenshot: image Explanation This happens with an active Twenty Twenty-One theme on the WordPress site. Resolution If you have Twenty Twenty-One active in your WordPress site, we recommend using a different theme to fix the issue. Below is an example of a fixed tooltip image view after changing the theme from Twenty Twenty-One to another theme (e.g. Twenty Twenty-Two): image
Map Locations are not being displayed in the Shopify version of MapifyPro
Symptom After you have saved a map or a map location, it does not display nor load completely on your site. Explanation This happens because the map data is cached for performance reasons. The cache duration is 1 hour (with the hard minimum being 1 minute). Solution If you hard refresh your map after 1 minute, it should be updated.
Map Locations Not Appearing on Map Using WPML
Symptoms You were able to set up two maps in two different languages using the WordPress Multilingual Plugin (WPML) but switching the map from English to the second language will display only a blank map i.e. the map locations are missing. Explanation This is usually a result of an incomplete translation on the WPML area and incorrect settings on the MapifyPro area (e.g. map locations, location tags, not translated and added properly on the translated map). Resolution To fix this, you will need to ensure that you are using the latest version of both the WPML and MapifyPro (Go to Plugins>>MapifyPro>>click Update Now) and that the maps, map area, tags, map locations, & the page are translated and set up correctly. Once the plugins are updated, please perform the following steps: 1. Add a Map Area where your map locations should appear (Go to MapifyPro >> Map Area >> Draw New Area)blobid1.png 2. Translate the following sequentially: - Translate Location Tags (MapifyPro >> Location Tags). - Translate the map locations that should be displayed on the map. - Translate the Map Area. - Translate your Map. - Translate the page where the Map is added. 3. Add the translatedmap locations and assign a map areato the map for the map locations to appear when the second language is chosen by a visitor. Below are the steps: - Navigate to Maps within the MapifyPro section. - Click Edit for the required Map. - By default, the Map will appear in the original (English) language. Then, from the language options on top of page, click the second language (see below): blobid2.png - Scroll down to Map Area Selector >> select the Map Area where the map needs to be displayed. - Scroll down to Map Locations and start adding the translated map locations that need to be added to the translated map (click the location title so that it goes to the right column). - Under "Select Post Type" choose Map Locations. - Click Updateto save your changes. 4. Your translated map locations should now display on the map when the second language is chosen. Similarly, when you switch back to the English language, the English map locations shall display.
Map Locations Not Populating Using MapifyPro Bulk Uploader
Symptom When attempting to import your map locations using the CSV file template provided by the MapifPro Bulk Uploader, you may encounter an error stating, "OSM Nominatim failed to retrieve exact location (manual entry is required)." Explanation This issue can occur if the CSV file includes locations (in Map Locations) that already exist in either the Published or the Trash folders. Please see screenshot below: image Resolution To resolve the issue, please follow these steps: 1. Permanently delete all items in the Trash folder. 2. Check the Published folder for any duplicate locations—specifically, look for locations similar to those in the CSV file. Delete duplicates, if any, either from the CSV file or the Published folder. 3. Once you have completed these steps, try importing the locations again using the MapifPro Bulk Uploader.
Map Not Displaying — Troubleshooting Guide
If your MapifyPro map is not displaying on your website, there are two common causes. Follow the steps below in order. Step 1 — Verify Your Licence An unverified or expired licence will prevent maps from displaying entirely. How to fix: 1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard 2. Navigate to MapifyPro → Activation in the left-hand menu 3. Check the licence status 4. If it shows as unverified, expired, or invalid — re-enter your licence key and click the button to save. 5. Refresh your website and check if the map now displays If the map is still not displaying after verifying your licence, continue to Step 2. Step 2 — Allow Web Workers in Your Browser Security Policy (CSP) MapifyPro uses Web Workers to render maps efficiently. Some web servers and security plugins block Web Workers by default using a Content Security Policy (CSP), which causes the map to appear blank or fail to load silently. How to check if this is the issue 1. Open your site in a browser 2. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect (or press F12) 3. Click the Console tab 4. Look for errors similar to: Creating a worker from 'blob:https://yoursite.com/...' violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "default-src https: ..." Note that 'worker-src' was not explicitly set. If you see this error, follow the fix for your hosting setup below. Fix A — WordPress Plugin (Recommended for most users) Install the Headers & CSP Manager plugin or use the Headers section in any security plugin you already have (e.g. Wordfence, iThemes Security, Really Simple SSL). Add the following CSP header: Content-Security-Policy: worker-src 'self' blob:; Fix B — Apache (.htaccess) Add the following to your .htaccess file in your WordPress root directory: <IfModule mod_headers.c> Header always set Content-Security-Policy "worker-src 'self' blob:;" </IfModule> ⚠️ If you already have a Content-Security-Policy line in your .htaccess, add worker-src 'self' blob:; to the existing line rather than adding a second one. Fix C — Nginx Add the following inside your server {} block in your Nginx config: add_header Content-Security-Policy "worker-src 'self' blob:;"; Then reload Nginx: sudo systemctl reload nginx Fix D — Managed / Shared Hosting (cPanel, Plesk, WP Engine, Kinsta, etc.) If you do not have access to your server config, contact your hosting provider and ask them to add the following HTTP response header: Content-Security-Policy: worker-src 'self' blob:; Let them know it is required for JavaScript Web Workers to function on your site. Still having issues? If your map is still not displaying after completing both steps above, please contact our support team and include: - Your domain name - A screenshot of any errors shown in your browser console (F12 → Console tab) - Your WordPress version and active theme name We're happy to help! 🗺️
Map Not Displaying on the Website or Page When Logged Out from WordPress Admin
Symptom If you're logged in to wp-admin, the map displays perfectly on your website or page. But when you logged out from wp-admin, the map preview is no longer visible on the page and only the search field is displayed. Upon performing a search, it will scroll up to the top of the page and the map will now be displayed. Explanation This could be related to your site caching. Resolution Caching If you have site caching enabled, you will need to delete your cache or disable your caching plugin to see if the map displays. You may refer to this article that is related to Site Caching. CloudFlare If you have a CDN like CloudFlare, please purge the cache there. If you're using a CDN other than CloudFlare, then please follow the same process on your CDN. This could also be due to Rocket Loader if you are using CloudFlare. SSL Do have a look at your SSL settings and ensure that they are enabled for your site. The Really Simple SSL plugin for WordPress works great for HTTP to HTTPS redirection to make sure that all of your resources are referenced using HTTPS. Check Plugins and Themes Ensure that your Plugins and Themes are up-to-date for your MapifyPro plugin. Following this, you may try to temporarily take out any custom CSS and see if that resolves the issue.
Map Pins Had Stopped Working Properly after Changing the Pin Image
Symptom The map pins were working perfectly until the pin image was changed. It appears that all Map Locations are in a specific country when zoomed out and will only line up better when zoomed in. Explanation When several Map Locations are close together due to their saved addresses on the Map, the map pins may appear close to one another. This may confuse a site visitor viewing the Map. Resolution We recommend enabling the Map Clustering feature for your map to look better and more organized. With clusters, multiple nearby locations will be grouped into single icons that, when clicked, will zoom in and expand to show the locations. This is very useful when many locations are close together. Please click this guide which details how this feature can be enabled. Checking the dimension of your Map pin image may also help. Pins that are too large can confuse your site visitors when viewing your Map page, especially when there are nearby locations on the Map. There's no standard dimension for a map pin and therefore you will have to choose the pin size that best suits your map.
Map Pins Not Displaying Correctly on the Map
Symptom When using the Image/Custom Mode of the map, there may be instances in which the map pin/tooltip won't display where it should be on the map image that you're using. This may still happen despite saving the correct address of a map location. Explanation Since map images don't support addresses, a map pin/tooltip may not always point at the exact/correct location within the map image that you uploaded. Resolution You will need to reposition the map pin so it's aligned with your Map Image. When setting up a Map Location and when you're on custom/image mode, a preview of the image used in the map settings will appear so you can see where to place your location. Below are the steps on how you can manually adjust the map pin within your map image. 1. Within the Map Locations section, choose the required location. 2. Scroll down to the 'Locate Address on the map' field, enter the complete location address, then hit ENTER. 3. If the map pin is not displayed correctly on the map, you can drag it to the correct location on your map image. Don't worry, repositioning the pin will not change your saved address in the 'Locate Address' field! 4. Once the pin is adjusted, click 'Update' to save the changes.
My CrowdMaps Add-on Is Not Working as Expected
Symptoms The CrowdMaps add-on is enabled in your Map but the plugin is no longer working properly as expected. Explanation This happens when using an old version of CrowdMaps. Resolution You will need to install the updated version of CrowdMaps on your WordPress site. Below are the steps: 1. Re-download the plugin from your My Account page https://mapifypro.com/my-account/, then save the zip file in a convenient location. 2. Log in to wp-admin and navigate to Plugins section. 3. Click Add New > Upload Plugin. mceclip1.png 4. Click on 'Choose File.' mceclip2.png 5. Choose the Crowdmaps zip file (which you have recently saved) and click on 'Install Now.' mceclip3.pngmceclip4.png 6. If CrowdMaps was previously installed on your site, this message will appear. Please choose the option, "Replace current with uploaded." mceclip5.png 7. Complete the setup for the install and this will allow for the updated version of CrowdMaps to be installed on your WordPress site. mceclip7.png
My Map Has Stopped Working on the Website/Page
Symptom You're using a MapifyPro map on your page/site and you noticed that some of its features had stopped working or some of your changes in the WP-admin are not reflected in the front-end. Explanation It is most likely that you're running on the old version of MapifyPro. While you're licensed to use MapifyPro version 2.x indefinitely, support for version 2.x has ended. Resolution If you purchase the latest version of MapifyPro (version 3.x), you can easily upgrade from the old version. To update to the latest version of MapifyPro, please follow this guide.
My maps (or my map locations) are not loading
Symptoms You have added your map locations to a map, and the map has been properly added into a page or post with the correct map ID. However, the map or the map locations fail to load successfully on the page. Explanation This is a known issue that can be resolved by following a specific workaround. Resolution To fix the issue, please follow these steps: 1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard (wp-admin). 2. Navigate to Settings and then select MapifyPro Verification.image 3. Deactivate and then activate MapifyPro**.** 4. In the API Key Deactivation section: Select the box to deactivate API Key. Click Save Changes. image 5. In the API Key Activation section: Ensure that your API Key is displayed (it should still be present). Click Save Changes. image 6. The API Key Status should now indicate "Verified." image
My tooltip is being hidden by another element of my site.
Adjusting the z-Index You'll want to adjust your z-index on the tooltip so that it's higher than the z-index of the item that is overlapping the tooltip. This can be done in line 11 of the map.css file, which is found in the assets folder of the plugin. It's already set to 99999, but if you add another 9 it should do the trick.
My tooltips don't hover over my site content
This is a z-index issue that appears with specific themes. It's an easy fix: Navigate to your plugin folder. In the file called 'map.css', which is found in the Templates folder, you'll want to add the following code to line 29: z-index: 999; Here is an example of how it will look: image
No Locations Are Showing up When Searching for Some Cities and ZIP Codes
Symptom When a search is performed for some cities and ZIP/postal codes on a map, the search result returns with no map locations found, despite the locations being saved with those cities/ZIP/postal codes. Explanation This is most likely due to the map's Search Radius not being set correctly. The search radius feature of MapifyPro allows you to specify the granular settings of how far you want your visitors to search. Resolution Adjusting the map's Search Radius Settings (steps provided below) can address the issue. We recommend setting it to a higher range to extend how far your visitors can search. 1. Log in to your WP site admin. 2. Within the MapifyPro tab, navigate to Mapsand click on 'Edit' for the required map. 3. Scroll down to Search Radius Settings, and in the 'Search Radius' field, change the default 5 to a higher range (10000 recommended) and set the 'Search Radius Unit' to Kilometers/Miles. 4. It may also help to enter the country code in the 'Search Region Bias' field (e.g. US) to specify the restricted region for the search to be applied on. 5. Click on 'Update' to save your changes.mceclip0.png
No Locations Found when Entering a ZIP Code in the Search Criteria
Updating the Search Region Bias Within your map, you may receive an error "No locations were found within your search criteria. Please search again". This is likely due to the Map not being set with a specific Search Bias (restricted region for the search to be applied on). Resolution To resolve this search issue, you may need to update your Bias Settings with the specific 2-character code of your country (full list of country codes here) to obtain a more consistent search result. How to Update the Search Bias To update your Bias Settings, click on Maps within the MapifyPro plugin, then click on the required Map. On the Map settings page, scroll down to 'Search Radius Settings' section of the page, and enter the country code in the 'Search Region Bias' field. See screenshot below where the Search Region Bias has been set to the 'US'. mceclip3.png Click on Update to save your changes. Multiple Countries are Possible You may use multiple search regions by separating each with a comma. For example, "US,CA" (without quotes) will lock your search region to the United States and Canada. Please ensure that you do not have any spaces.
No Locations Found when Entering State/City or ZIP codes in the Search Criteria
Symptom Some state/city or zip codes are not working when used in searching locations on the map, even if they do exist in the Map Locations database. Explanation It can be due to the Search Radius not being set up correctly on the Map or the proper distance not being chosen before performing a search. Resolution We recommend setting the Map's Search Radius to a higher range. This is done by following the below steps: 1. Log in to your WP site admin. 2. Within the MapifyPro tab, navigate to Maps. 3. Click on 'Edit' for the required Map. 4. Scroll down to Search Radius Settings. 5. In the 'Search Radius' field, change the default 5 to a higher range (10000 recommended). 6. Click on 'Update.' mceclip0.png It also helps to adjust the Front-End Search Radius (e.g. 250, 500, 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000) to make wider search distance options available when searching for locations. 1. On the same Map page, locate the Front-End Search Radius Optionssection. 2. Click the 'Add Option' button to add more distance options. 3. Enter the number on every distance field you've added (e.g. 500, 1000). 4. Save your changes by clicking 'Update'. mceclip0.png This is how the front-end search variables will appear on your Map's search field: mceclip1.png To make each search display the required location, ensure that the proper distance is chosen before hitting the search button. NOTE: The Search Radiusand the Front-End Search Radius cannot be both enabled at the same time. Only one of these features may be enabled on the Map.
Pop-up Content and Exit Button Not Fully Visible
Symptom After upgrading to the latest version of MapifyPro, the pop-up content such as the pop-up image, location details, and the exit button are no longer fully visible on the map. Explanation You may need to check your Cache, SSL, and Themes settings. Resolution Please check the below links that explains the steps on how to troubleshoot the issue: Pop-up Content Not Displaying Map Not Displaying on the Website or Page When Logged Out from WordPress Admin
Pop-up Content Not Displaying
There may be instances in which a location pop-up won't open despite the pop-up feature being enabled on the Map. Instead of a pop-up being displayed, only a 'loading circle’ appears. The following are the possible reasons and the corresponding steps on how to solve each of them. Using an old version of the MapifyPro plugin It is necessary to upgrade your MapifyPro plugin to its latest version. Once updated, please perform the following: 1. Clear your WordPress cache 2. Clear your CDN cache 3. Clear your local browser cache SSL settings are not enabled for the site Do have a look at the SSL settings and ensure that they are enabled for your site. Tip: The Really Simple SSL plugin for WordPress works great for HTTP to HTTPS redirection to make sure that all of your resources are referenced using HTTPS. A jQuery conflict This could have been caused by a 'jQuery' conflict. To troubleshoot this, deactivate all of your plugins, then reactivate them one by one while testing your map page. Popup Window Is Not Loading on Mobile Unless the Pin is Tapped Twice
Symptoms The popup works differently on mobile like iPhones. You need to tap the map pin twice before the popup window shows up. Explanation Viewing maps on mobile devices (iOS and Android) really functions differently from viewing a map from a standard desktop. Currently, here is the expected behavior depending on the mobile device: Expected behavior for an iOS device: 1st tap - center the map, so that the pin is moved to the middle of the map. 2nd tap - hover - the tooltip is displayed. 3rd tap - the map location popup content is displayed. Expected behavior for an Android device: 1st tap - displays the tooltip preview and stays until the 2nd tap. 2nd tap - opens the popup window. Resolution It is not a bug and there's no way to remove the first steps from mobile.
Popups Are Not Showing/Working
This is usually caused by a jQuery version conflict. To troubleshoot this further, please deactivate all of your plugins, then reactivate them one by one all the while testing your map page.
Search Features Are Not Working in My Country
Setting the "Search Region Bias" You'll need to set the "Search Region Bias" in your map settings. You can do so in the MapifyPro > Maps > [specific map] section of your admin. Note: Per Google standards, you'll want to use the COUNTRY CODE rather than the full country name. So, UK instead of United Kingdom. You can find the full list of country codes here. How It Works This is incredibly useful to make sure MapifyPro searches look at a specific country FIRST before searching others. So if most of your locations are in the United Kingdom, you'll want to enter "UK" in this field on that specific map. Otherwise it will first search the United States, and may display "No results found" when visitors search on your map. To adjust this settings, scroll near the bottom of your map settings, and you'll see the following field where you can set the country: image
Some Locations in the CSV File Not Importing Successfully During Batch Upload
Symptom When performing a Batch Upload, some locations are not successfully imported with error, '*OSM Nominatim failed to retrieve exact location (manual entry is required) with the location,'*despite entering the correct locations in the CSV file. Explanation This happens when the OpenStreetMap (OSM) fails to recognize the location that was entered due to either incorrect or inadequate location information. Resolution For the locations that weren't successfully imported, we recommend replacing the address (Column Q in CSV) with the GPS Coordinates. The below site allows you to convert addresses to GPS Coordinates: Get Lat Long from Address Convert Address to Coordinates
The Interactive List of Locations Is Not Displaying Beneath the Map
Symptoms The Interactive List of Locations feature is enabled on the map but the Interactive List is not showing on the map page. mceclip0.png Explanation This may be due to no Map Filter Tags added on the map locations. Resolution You will need to add Map Filter tags to your Map Locations for the interactive list of locations to appear beneath the map. It is a three-way process: creating location tags, adding these tags to the map, and adding the tags to the map locations. The complete guide on adding Map Filter tags is found on this link. Once the above steps have been completed, then the Interactive List should now appear on the Map page. mceclip2.png
The Map Filter List Is Not Showing Up in the Mobile View
Symptom With the latest version of the MapifyPro, it is confirmed that the drop-down menu for the Map and Search filters is working on desktop, mobile phone, and tablet successfully. There may be instances, however, in which the Map Filter List (drop-down menu) is showing up in the desktop application but not in the mobile view. Explanations 1. There is a need to clear your cache. 2. This is due to the browser app being used on the mobile device. Resolutions 1. You will need to clear your browser cache. Please see this link for a guide. 2. Please try another browser app on your mobile phone to see if that works.
The map is zooming when scrolling through the page
Symptom When you are scrolling down the page, the scolling pauses when you reach a map, and causes the map to zoom. Explanation The mouse focus is now upon the map, and mouse zoom now takes priority over mouse scroll. Resolution Disable mouse scroll using the following steps: 1. Open the Map in MapifyPro that you wish to change 2. Beneath Basic Settings, locate Enable Mouse Zoom. mceclip2.png 3. Change this to No. mceclip3.png
There is a delay in the map load times.
Symptom You notice a few seconds delay in the map load times. Explanation If you do have a large number of locations on your map, the locations (map pins) that are piled up together may cause a delay in load times on the map. Resolution It is best to enable Clustering in your map settings to allow the locations on your map to be clearly laid out. This avoids the map pins being piled up together. This should help the load times on your map. The guide on how the Map Clustering can be enabled is found here.

Unable to Import Map Locations When Performing a Batch Upload
Symptom The below error appears when trying to import files during Batch Upload: "Malformed UTF-8 characters found in import file." Explanation The most common reason is the use of Google Sheets to extract the CSV. Google Sheets is inconsistent about using quotes (it only uses quotes when it strictly needs to). Resolution Please use some more reliable spreadsheet software instead of Google Sheets when extracting the CSV. We recommend downloading the sample file as a Microsoft Excel file and exporting it to CSV. When populating the sheet, please ensure to remove our sample entry because this text is multiline, which can be handled by Excel but not by Google Sheets. mceclip0.png Things to Consider When Performing a Batch Upload - Titles (column A) should be unique - otherwise, the same title will update the Map Location instead of adding it. - The location field (column Q) should be filled in so that the location can be identified. This can be using an address, a business name, or GPS co-ordinates. - It is recommended to update the Enter URL and the Tooltip Content fields. The Batch Upload still may work with these are left blank, however, updating these fields will help when viewing the map. - If there are several locations in your batch upload, then we do recommend starting with a lower number e.g. 10, to ensure the locations are being updated on your map.
Unable to Update Maps within the MapifyPro Plugin
Symptom You get an error when trying to edit your map within the MapifyPro plugin. You made some changes on your map within the plugin but the changes are not displayed on your site or page. Explanation This could be related to a recent issue that prevented customers from updating their map data within the plugin, which has been addressed in the latest version of MapifyPro. Resolution Please upgrade to the latest version of MapifyPro through your wp-admin Dashboard. If you need to download MapifyPro again, please go to https://mapifypro.com/my-account and log in to download again. After updating, please ensure that you clear your WordPress cache, your CDN cache, and your local browser cache. If this does not resolve the issue, another plugin or your theme is likely the cause. Consider disabling all other plugins and changing your theme, then re-enable the plugins one by one to identify the one that is causing the issue.
Visitors Are Unable to See the Text Being Entered into the Map's Search Field
Symptom When typing a location in the map's search field, the user is unable to see the text being typed because of a white rectangular box that appears. The text becomes visible only upon pressing 'Enter.' The following images show how the text field appears prior to a search (Image 1), while typing a location (Image 2), and after hitting 'Enter' or the search button (Image 3). mceclip0.png mceclip4.png mceclip2.png Explanation This is most likely caused by a z-order of another element on the page which is lower than the map but higher than the search box. Resolution You may contact the person who has customized the site and theme to perform adjustments. Alternatively, if you require a low-tech resolution, trying a different theme may help fix it.
